Delhi NCR: CBSE VS IB VS IGCSE VS CISCE Board:

Delhi NCR: CBSE VS IB VS IGCSE VS CISCE Board:

Hi Parents, A lot of you have been concerned over a CBSE vs another board for your child. You have had questions about whether the other boards would be the right fit for your child, is the high fee difference worth going for, what about the focus on extra and co-curricular, does my child have a future in India with an international board certificate?

*******************************************************

Evidently, schools in Gurgaon & Noida have already made that shift to international boards (IB & IGCSE) and had a decent amount of success so far.

*******************************************************

With NOT so many similar options in Delhi (Especially in all other parts except South Delhi) leaves Delhi parents in a dilemma whether to go out of the way to pursue an international curriculum from NCR, and whether going for an international board will be the right decision in the first place?

*******************************************************

Since International board schools are not monitored by the DOE, will the limited options for the international board in Delhi or the ones in NCR be a good fit for your child?

*******************************************************

See the picture attached. This is my analysis of the 4 famous boards in India: CBSE, CISCE, IB, IGCSE, with details such as Strengths & weaknesses of each, origin, number of schools in India, and other information.

*******************************************************

My Prediction: Delhi is emerging as an International board focussed market and by 2030, there will be more than 100 International Board (IB/IGCSE) schools in Delhi.

A Quick Overview of Statistics:In India, there are more than 1.5 Crore students enrolled in approximately 21,000 CBSE affiliated schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Government schools, Private schools, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and Central Tibetan Schools. This number is then followed by CISCEboard with around 2000 schools and more than 1.5 lac students. There was a time when the schools used to operate only on the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), CISCE or a State Board. But India has always been deeply influenced by the West and so are the educational boards. With the introduction of an international curriculum in the schools, education has taken a different dimension altogether. In the year2000, there were a mere 8schools offering an IB Board in India, and IGCSE (Cambridge Curriculum) was yet to be introduced in the country. The last 5 years have seen a significant increase in the number of schools offering an international board. The number has shot up to 167 IB Schools and 485 Cambridge schools.
